Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all use of RaceHooks services, APIs, SDKs, and data. It is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meanings defined there.
What you can build
Use RaceHooks to build applications, dashboards, alerts, analytics tools, fantasy sports products, betting analytics, broadcast tools, and anything else that receives or displays motorsport timing data. Build multi-tenant products and charge your own customers for your value-added work. Train ML models on the data for your own products.
What you cannot do
Resell the data feed. You may not redistribute raw RaceHooks webhook payloads or API responses as a standalone data product, build a competing data delivery API using RaceHooks as the source, or provide your customers with direct access to RaceHooks data in a form that replicates the RaceHooks service itself. Building products using RaceHooks data is fine; being a pass-through reseller of it is not.
Circumvent limits. Do not use multiple accounts to aggregate access beyond your tier, bypass authentication or rate limiting, or embed credentials in public code repositories. Rotate any credential you believe has been exposed and notify us at security@racehooks.io.
Cause harm. Do not use RaceHooks to transmit malware, conduct denial-of-service attacks, harvest personal data without consent, or engage in any activity that could interfere with our infrastructure or our relationships with data providers.
Misrepresent the data. Do not represent your product as powered by "official" data from any motorsport series, or imply any affiliation with any series organizer, sanctioning body, or team. RaceHooks data is not official licensed data from any sport. For Formula 1 specifically, RaceHooks is not sourced through any commercial arrangement with FOM or its authorized data suppliers, and is not affiliated with the FIA.
Violate export controls. You may not use the Services if you are on a US, EU, or UN sanctions list, or from a sanctioned jurisdiction (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk).
Sports wagering — read this carefully
RaceHooks data is not "official league data" as defined by any sports wagering regulatory body. Each sport has its own official data licensing arrangements; RaceHooks is not affiliated with any of them. For Formula 1 specifically, FOM's authorized official betting data supplier is currently ALT Sports Data — RaceHooks is not affiliated with that arrangement.
If you build a product that uses RaceHooks data for in-play wagering:
- Illinois (230 ILCS 45/25-40) and Tennessee require in-play F1 bets to settle against data from FOM's officially authorized supplier. RaceHooks does not qualify for F1. Do not use RaceHooks as the sole data source for settling live F1 bets in these states.
- Official data requirements vary by sport and jurisdiction. You are solely responsible for determining whether your use of non-official data complies with applicable law in every jurisdiction and for every sport where your product operates, and for obtaining all necessary gaming licenses and authorizations.
RaceHooks expressly disclaims liability for your failure to comply with gambling laws or official-data requirements.
Your obligations to your own users
If you build a product that makes RaceHooks data available to your own customers, you are responsible for their conduct with respect to that data. Bind your downstream users to terms at least as restrictive as this AUP — particularly the redistribution prohibition and the sports wagering restrictions. RaceHooks' remedies for a downstream user's violation are directed at you, the account holder.
Simulation
The RaceHooks Simulate feature replays historical session data for development and testing. Do not present Simulate outputs as live data to end users or use them as the basis for any financial transaction or wagering decision.
Historical data attribution
When displaying historical motorsport data from the RaceHooks Data API (race results, driver statistics, circuit information), include a visible attribution notice:
Include a link to racehooks.io/legal/attribution alongside this notice.
Enforcement
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this AUP, with or without prior notice depending on the severity. Accounts terminated for material violations are not eligible for refund of prepaid fees. We reserve the right to report illegal activities to appropriate authorities.
If you discover a security vulnerability in RaceHooks, report it to security@racehooks.io before public disclosure.
Changes
We may update this AUP at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
